The rear spark plugs on the 2005 Sebring are positioned at angles that make them difficult to reach. The Sebring, in 2005, used a coil-over ignition system--also called a "distributorless ignition system." Instead of a power distributor, the Sebring used coil packs; these coils were secured with simple bolts. However, once the coils are removed, access to the plugs is somewhat difficult. A special tool, called a "U-joint" is needed to access the plugs. This U-joint tool is a kind of socket extension that fits onto a regular socket wrench, which allows you to put torque onto a bolt (or in this case, a spark plug); the tool makes it possible to reach spark plugs positioned at an award angle and is available at most auto parts stores.

Instructions
Things You'll Need
- Socket wrench
- U-joint socket extension
- 1/4-inch straight socket extension
- Spark plug socket
- 1 Attach the U-joint extension to the socket wrench, then connect the 1/4-inch socket extension to the U-joint. Connect the spark plug socket to the end of the 1/4-inch extension.
- 2 Lower the wrench and extensions down into a plug well. With the U-joint attachment, you can position the wrench at a comfortable angle, making the removal of the spark plug possible.
- 3 Turn the spark plug counter-clockwise and pull it up and out of the engine. It's a tight fit, but it will come out.
- 4 Remove the old spark plug from the socket and insert the new spark plug; Reinstall the spark plug. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Be careful when starting the threads of the new spark plug, as they can strip easily.
